Analog Control

Analog Control is an option that lets you either move à la games such as Super Mario 64 and Sonic Adventure if enabled, or à la games such as World of Warcraft or any first-person game if disabled.

To sum up the table below, when Analog Control is enabled, the character will make movements relatively to the direction the camera is facing. When they change direction, the camera remains in the same place, however, the character is turned into that direction and can face any of the 8 directions the camera provides. To turn the camera, one can run towards a direction other than forward to make the camera slowly tilt that way, to follow the character's movement.

If disabled, the user turns the camera manually and the character always faces forward relatively to the camera. This means that the character can move in any direction while facing the same direction as the camera.

In this table, rotate means "orbit," whereas turn means "spin around in the same place."

Differences between ANALOG 1 and ANALOG 0

Console command Action (ANALOG 1) Action (ANALOG 0)
Move Forward If not already, the character turns around to face his back to the camera, then the character will walk forward. The character walks forward.
Move Backward If not already, the character turns around to face the camera, then the character will walk towards the camera. After enough movement, the camera will start rotating to follow his movement, that would be otherwise hard to understand, seeing that the player can't quite see where he/she's heading. The character walks backwards.
Turn Left/Right The character will move towards the camera's left/right, and then the camera will start turning along in the same direction. The character turns left/right. If CHASECAM is enabled, the camera will rotate in the opposite direction.
Camera Rotate Left/Right The camera rotates left/right. Does nothing.
Strafe Left/Right The character will move towards the camera's left/right, and then the camera will start turning along in the same direction. The character will strafe left/right. If CHASECAM is enabled, the camera will also strafe in the same direction.
