Sector type 14, Non-Ramp Sector, is a sector type which eliminates the step-down effect that normally occurs for steps of 24 fracunits or less. Without this effect, if the player steps into a sector whose floor is 24 fracunits or less below the floor of the previous sector, the player will step down to the floor of that sector. This allows for descending stairways. However, if the non-ramp effect is used, the player will not step down to the floor of the lower sector but rather fall through the air like they would for larger steps. This effect can be used to prevent structures with small floor height differences from acting as staircases when approached from above. However, they will still act as staircases when approached from below.

Type of sector Behavior
In-level sector Prevents players from clinging to descending stairways when anywhere in the sector
Solid FOF control sector Prevents players from clinging to descending stairways when standing on top of the FOF
Intangible FOF control sector Prevents players from clinging to descending stairways when anywhere in the FOF
Water FOF control sector Prevents players from clinging to descending stairways when anywhere in the FOF
