Some background information

My name is Rob Tisdell. I'm 20 years old, born July 7th, 1988. I live in the USA, the state of Massachusetts, in the city of Worcester. I am part of a large family, with my brothers and sisters numbering 6. I am the oldest of the bunch. We also have a dog, who is my life. Two parents, and many members of the family from both sides. I'm a registered Republican, and have been fairly politically active, taking part in protests, and even making onto local television.
My life can be pretty much summed up in two halves: Before my Grandmother died, and after my Grandmother died. Even while she had cancer, life stayed the same for me. I would talk to and play with my friends daily. My mom had a new baby every other year, or so it seemed. There was always something to look forward to.
After my Grandmother died, when I was about 10-11, we moved in to her house. It wasn't far away. In fact, it was a 5 minute drive from the old house. The problem was, for me anyways, that I had a problem walking places due to a birth defect. We moved from a place where everyone was my age to where I was the oldest by at least two years above everyone else. I guess that really contributed to my interest in computers. Life wasn't all bad, though. Me and my relatives grew closer with the experience. We adopted a dog 3 years afterward, something we would never have done otherwise. That dog has become the highlight of my life. Not much is to be said now, really. Life goes on daily. I'm behind by two years (I know, pathetic) in school, and am working to catch up. I've homeschooled since leaving Kindergarten, and am an avid reader, reading at what was recorded second-grade level coming out of Kindergarten.
Interests I've had
Computers
I have had a few interests in my life. Early on, way back when I was 4 or 5, I had my love for computers. My first system was ancient-old MS DOS. I didn't have a computer at home then, but I used my aunt's machine whenever I would visit. I always had some interest in how they worked, though I never really had the chance to explore that until recently. I may be taking web design as a major for college, and hopefully will get some simple course for programming, just so that I can have some knowledge of that. Probably C/++.
Mario
At around 4 years old, I was also introduced to the NES. My father used to have one hidden in a closet in the hallway. He would take it out every night, and we'd watch him play. About a year later, we were allowed to play. I found myself immersed in the world of Super Mario Bros. and Duck Hunt. A couple years later, at around 8, my uncle gave me the original Nintendo Gameboy. I quickly bought Pokemon Blue Version and found myself absorbed in that along with all my friends. After a while, Game Boy Advance came out, and by the time Game Boy Advance SP was out, I had 16 games for it. I guess I've always been sort of a Nintendo fanatic, though not too much so.
Godzilla
|
| The infamous Godzilla |
1998, at 10 years old, the movie Godzilla came out. My parents wanted to show us what Godzilla was like before Matthew Broderick's rendition, and rented Godzilla vs. Gigan. It was a movie which started a craze in my life, lasting 6 years. If it was Godzilla, I had to have it, be it an action figure, book, or movie. I even got a giant book from my friend, which covered all Godzilla movies, trivia, statistics, etc. I've seen almost every movie to date. Among those I've seen, I'd have to say that I liked Godzilla vs. King Ghidorah and Godzilla 2000 the bast. A list of the films I've seen:
- Godzilla: King of the Monsters
- King Kong vs. Godzilla
- Godzilla vs. Mothra (Original 1964 movie)
- Ghidrah (Also: Ghidorah) the Three Headed Monster
- Godzilla vs. Monster Zero
- Godzilla vs. the Sea Monster
- Son of Godzilla
- Destroy All Monsters
- Godzilla's Revenge
- Godzilla vs. The Smog Monster/Hedorah
- Godzilla vs. Gigan
- Godzilla vs. Megalon
- Godzilla vs. MechaGodzilla
- Terror of MechaGodzilla
- Godzilla 1985
- Godzilla vs. Biollante
- Godzilla vs. King Ghidorah
- Godzilla vs. Mothra (Also: Godzilla and Mothra: The Battle for Earth [Odd, because 90% of the time, Goddzilla fights Battra, not Mothra])
- Godzilla vs. MechaGodzilla 2
- Godzilla vs. SpaceGodzilla
- Godzilla vs. Destoroyah
- Godzilla 2000
- Godzilla, Mothra, and King Ghidorah: Giant Monsters All Out Attack
- Godzilla x Megaguirus
- Godzilla x MechaGodzilla
- Godzilla x Mothra x MechaGodzilla: Tokyo SOS
- Godzilla: Final Wars
Star Trek
|
| Seven of Nine. |
Only recently, I have discovered Star Trek. It was last year, at my church's yard sale. I was hoping to purchase a couple of Star Wars books. My aunt overheard this, and, quite mistakenly, picked up a large box filled with Star Trek books. At that point in time, all I knew of Star Trek was the original series starring Kirk, Spock, and McCoy, and some vague knowledge of The Next Generation. The box of books came with only a few of the old Star Trek, and none from The Next Generation. However, it came with a massive amount of Deep Space 9 books. I didn't think I'd like them much. How wrong I was. I found myself unable to get enough of them, and reread them all over and over again. From there, I watched the show, and found myself recently interested in the Voyager series. A lot of people assume from this, however, that I watch a lot of other Sci-Fi shows. While it's true I watch them on occasion, I do not watch them regularly, nor do I have the knowledge of them the way I do Star Trek.
How I got involved in the Sonic Robo Blast 2 community
At around 7, I started playing SEGA Genesis at my cousin's house. They happened to have Sonic theHedgehog 2. I loved that game. I always have loved the Sonic games, I just never had the chance to own one. That is, until I was 11, when my brother got Sonic Action Pack, a pack containing 3 PC Sonic games: Sonic & Knuckles Collection, Sonic 3D Blast, and Sonic CD. The games were some of the best I played ever. Soon after, I went and bought myself Sonic R, and Sonic 2 (Actually, Sega Smash Pack 2; which contained Sonic 2). I then learned about ROMs, and how to use them, downloading all the Genesis games and playing on Gens. That's also the time I found Sonic Fan Games HQ, and soon after Sonic Robo Blast 2. I always wanted to join the communities, I was just nervous. Later, however, I got the guts to join Sonic Fan Games HQ, and I turned out to be a miserable excuse for a member. After Manic's hack of the place, and when it moved to its Proboards site, I just gave up. About that time, I had already started talking in the SRB2 community, getting myself involved in SRB2-DX, a canned modification for the game. From there, I got more and more settled in, and became, what I believe is, a reputable member of the SRB2 community. While I have only created a few WADs, including the second Knuckles character, and being the first good looking one, I have learned, and understand a great deal about editing. The only reason for not applying that knowledge is because of my lack of creativity, especially on level design. Despite that, I find the SRB2 community a great place to be. I've gained quite a few friends, at least on my part, and enjoy playing the game (though, I'm not very good. =P).
