capitalization of object

it feels a little weird having it capitalized all over the page as if it's referencing a type, but the actual struct is mobj_t.

is anyone opposed to me normalizing the case? its a little crunchy atm

@ash: You might have to talk to MascaraSnake, I believe it was him who decided to captialise "Object" all over the wiki about a decade ago, before Lua scripting was even in the game. (I forget why) Otherwise, I'd say yes. Monster Iestyn Talk 15:47, 25 September 2021 (UTC)
We talked about this on Discord already, but let me summarize it here for posterity: The reason "Object" is capitalized is because of a guideline in the Manual of Style. We capitalize "Object" and "Thing" to differentiate them from the normal meaning of those words. Because both terms are so generic, it can sometimes be hard to tell if a particular occurrence of "thing" refers to the SRB2-specific entity we call "Thing", or "just some thing". Capitalizing the terms makes the difference easier to spot.
Really, the original sin here is that we settled on such generic terms to begin with. I wouldn't mind using different terms, but I don't really have a good alternative. I guess it would be more correct to refer to them as "map things" and "map objects". Then we wouldn't need to capitalize them, but it would also be more cumbersome to read and write. Another option would be to go with "mobj", but to me that falls under programmer's jargon. How do you even pronounce "mobj"? --MascaraSnake (talk) 05:13, 27 September 2021 (UTC)
