MAPX2, Daybreak Dash Zone Act 3, abbreviated as DDZ3, is the third act of Daybreak Dash Zone, the first zone in XSRB2. It is a boss fight against a modified Egg Mobile that moves randomly through a grid-shaped pool of water.

Walkthrough

The arena consists of nine platforms elevated above a pool of water. For most of the fight, Eggman is underwater, moving around through the gaps between the platforms. At each junction, he randomly chooses which direction he will move in, making his path unpredictable. Occasionally, Eggman will rise up from the water and shoot two missiles at you, giving you a chance to hit him. If you fall into the water, use one of the springs in the corners of the arena to get back up. While Eggman is underwater, try to follow his path so that you are nearby when he resurfaces. If he passes by you, you can try to jump down at him to land an extra hit. As Tails or Knuckles, you can reach the higher plateau surrounding the edge of the arena. Here you are safe from Eggman's shots and can monitor his movements more easily.

This boss takes 8 hits to defeat. His movements speed up with each hit, but unlike most bosses, he has no pinch phase and uses the same behavior throughout the entire fight.

Time Attack

To beat this boss quickly, you will have to hit him underwater a few times. Since his movement patterns are randomized, this mainly requires luck with the random number generator. In fact, the "Staff Time" replay depends upon a particularly convenient movement sequence and will usually desync when played back.
