The emerald tokens are scattered in each Single Player stage of SRB2. There are a total of 25 Emerald Tokens in version 2.0 of SRB2. Picking one up gives you a try at a Special Stage, allowing you to get the Chaos Emeralds.

Emerald token locations

Greenflower Zone Act 1

Token #1
After the first Star Post, as you come to the first lake, turn right and look at the wall. The discolored part is breakable by a spin-dash, or by touching if you're Knuckles. Follow the path to the Token.

Greenflower Zone Act 2

Token #1
When you get to a row of Yellow Angled Springs leading to a big open room, don't hit these and instead jump to your right into the water below. Now look for a cave within the water, if you find it, go in it, at the end is a Token.

Token #2
Just before the end, when you get to the last Checkpoint, you will have to climb a few small steps of stairs, then you will come to a rock bridge above the water. Before crossing it, go in the water and look around, you will find the Token.

Techno Hill Zone Act 1

Token #1
Near the end of the stage in the pipe room with the steam jets. Right before the diagonal spring, jump off the end towards the vertical pipe on the side. The token is hidden where the pipe connects to the pipe you were standing on.

Token #2
On the left fork after the second star post, after the river of slime, there is a hidden passage on the right wall that must be spin-dashed into. Follow the path until the area with the fans, and take the fans up to the alcove on the right side of the passage.

Techno Hill Zone Act 2

Token #1
After the first star post, take the path with the conveyors. On the second conveyor belt, after the crusher, look to the right side for a discolored section of the wall. Jump into it for the token.

Note: If you're Tails or Knuckles, you can fly/glide to the discolored section wall and climb in, thus making you less likely to fall in the slime.

Token #2
At the very beginning of the stage, on the left side of the opening room to the left of the conveyor belt is a discolored tile. Walk onto it and you'll fall through the floor, and spring up into the ceiling. Follow the hidden passage and you'll find an Elemental Shield. Now the hard part: Keep the Elemental Shield and make it to the last room with the big slime pit and the pipe. Jump into the slime pit, and walk around until you find the intake to the pipe. The current will take you through the pipe and into a secret room with the token.

Note: If you don't want or cannot access the Elemental Shield, there is an alternative method, requiring you to get hit by slime at least twice. Collect the Whirlwind Shield from the top floor near the goal and gather rings, then drop to the slime while hugging the pipe door entrance. You will be harmed twice before exiting the pipe, but you should be able to grab the token without losing a life. You may also try this method without the shield, but you must recollect some rings before finally entering the pipe in order to survive. There's also another method that requires the Whirlwind Shield: Land in the spot just before the square hole. You will get hurt and then fall through the pipe without getting pushed back up.

Deep Sea Zone Act 1

Token #1

On top of a pillar past the V-shaped statue. Take the route involving gargoyles to find it easily.

Deep Sea Zone Act 2

Token #1
Take the left path at the beginning and follow it until you get to a room with a bridge. Go into the water to your right to fall through a hole. Here you can collect the Token.
Token #2
When you get to the Bustable Block Maze, keep breaking the blocks until you get to the other side of it, then turn around and face the Bustable Block Maze. Now turn left and head towards the wall, now turn right and run straight into the blocks. You will find a Token buried within them.

Token #3
After the Bustable Block Maze, when you get to an underwater slide that has splitting paths, go left three times. You will end up entering a zoom tube that has a Token in it.


Token #4
At the split in the waterslide at the end, take the right split. Jump off to your left and cross the room containing stalactites to enter a cave. To your left is a small waterslide leading to the exit. Enter it and jump off to your left. You should an opening containing the Token.

Castle Eggman Zone Act 1

Token #1
After the lake with the waterslide, you enter a somewhat square room with a tree in front of you. Look down to your right and you can see the Token.
Token #2
In the room with a swinging spikeball over a gray crumbling platform, jump to your right.

Castle Eggman Zone Act 2

Token #1
In a spike pit after the swinging spikeballs.

Arid Canyon Zone Act 1

Token #1
When you get to the rope pulley lift in the left path, look down and left to see a Token resting on a thin ledge.
Token #2
After draining the oil with the oil draining machine and crossing the breakaway bridge, go in the water and you should find it right near Knuckles' Emblem.
Token #3
After draining the oil with the oil draining machine and crossing the breakaway bridge, BUT before going in the water, there is a pile of rocks blocking a doorway that only Knuckles can break, the Token lies inside it.

Red Volcano Zone Act 1

Token #1
After passing the rising Lava at the beginning, take the upper route and follow it up until you get to a Force Shield. You should be in a area in which the ground breaks away after crossing it. Now look to the left and jump down, you should land on a ledge. Now follow the path you see and keep going, you will then find the Token.
Token #2
Just before going up the ladder on fire close to the end, you can those small stepping stones. Instead of jumping on them, look to your right. Behind the lava fall is a platform with the Token.

Egg Rock Zone Act 1

Token #1
Take the left path and follow it, when you get to the room with gravity Conveyor Belt Area, a Token lies within it.
Token #2
After tagging the last checkpoint, when you hit the zoom tube to go out into space, turn right. You should see a yellow diagonal spring, behind it is the Token.

Egg Rock Zone Act 2

Token #1
After the Ambush Room near the 1st Checkpoint, take the Right Path, when you get to an area that takes you outside to Space the 2nd time, enter it and press on forward, before you hit the Reverse Gravity Switch, There should be a ledge that you can jump on, a Token lies on the ledge with a 1up Box, you might die after getting the Token due to the Space Countdown, so hit the 1up Box to avoid losing a life.
Token #2
After the scroller that acts like the DSZ waterslides, you must go through a vent. Instead of falling of in the middle, jump over the opening to the Token.
Token #3
At the end of the disco room.

Trivia

  • Deep Sea Zone Act 2 has 4 Emerald Tokens, making it the level with the most Tokens.
  • In Arid Canyon Zone Act 1, Sonic and Tails can get only 2 of the Tokens, while Knuckles can get all 3.
