The Purpose of This Article

This article exists to show that mods should not be graded on just their quality, but how the affect the community as a whole. Super Mystic Sonic is by no means a respectable character wad, but such abysmal quality in cooperation with the constant usage on the Master Server only strengths the reason why this is worth mention on the wiki. This article tells the user what Super Mystic Sonic is, what it does, and how it has affected the community. I believe this is a good demonstration on what the bare bones of a mod article should be.

If you haven't checked it already, this is what I was talking about when I commented on Talk:Mod#Second Thoughts. As I said before on there, I would really appreciate some feedback on whether this is how mods should be handled. ~ Blue Warrior talk contrib 00:07, 9 December 2007 (PST)

Yeah, leave this in. I wonder if there are already any non-overpowered characters with a fire blast? That'd be cool. –SonicMaster 01:56, 9 December 2007 (PST)

I take that back. Fire blast is overpowered no matter what. I've played with a character that does it. It's so lame. –SonicMaster 12:21, 4 February 2008 (PST)

Neutral Point of View

The wiki is supposed to be a largely helpful atmosphere, and the tone of the article so far seems to be somewhat condescending to the part of the community that uses Super Mystic Sonic. Particularly by separating the community by lower and higher parts. I understand this article has just been created and is subject to change, but I would like to suggest that a neutral point of view be maintained as is encouraged in the original wikipedia. We don't need to bring the whole n00b vs srb2 thing to the wiki.

Rather we could try saying that it is favored by a large part of younger/newer community and that such favor makes it all the annoying to some of the older members around. Or say that while the younger community generally favor it, many other users point out the WAD's inherent flaws and are furthermore frustrated by the frequent use of this wad in place of other, more refined WAD's.

Also, I'd avoid using the word n00bs, because it is clearly not what I'd consider a term encouraging a neutral point of view, and I thing should not be used except to give a specific definition for its usage as is done in the original wikipedia. - (JEV3) 74.33.123.241 04:00, 9 December 2007 (PST)

Honestly, I'd suggest going away from a fully NPOV for this article. I don't think there is anyone in this community that doesn't have some kind of an opinion about Super Mystic Sonic, and an article about it with a completely NPOV just seems weird. While the section explaining what the WAD is and what it does should generally be in NPOV, the most notable thing about Super Mystic Sonic is how much hatred it has generated in the community, and explaining that in more detail would seem to be the point of this article. -Mystic 09:04, 12 December 2007 (PST)
