Beta testing

Are you allowed to beta test your WAD in a netgame if you specifically state so in your server name? –SonicMaster 08:23, 19 November 2007 (PST)

Afaik, there are no restrictions on beta testing wads. Just mind the netgame hoppers who might think your unfinished work is "dull" or something, when the final would be otherwise. --Digiku talk 15:17, 19 November 2007 (PST)

"Timeout on Master Server, Connection to Master Server Failed"

Does this mean that the Master Server is down? WafflezHedgehog 15:34, 24 November 2007 (PST)

Doubt it. Try it right now; if it doesn't work, it's possible that you may be stuck under an IP ban. ~ Blue Warrior talk 22:48, 24 November 2007 (PST)

Could that also happen if my ports aren't forwarded correctly? ~WafflezHedgehog~blahblahblah*facepalms* 18:06, 30 November 2007 (PST) 14:09, 1 December 2007 (PST)

Maybe. I don't know. I have my own problem. I am always able to register my server on the Master Server. My server appears on the Master Server website, but when the list of netgames to choose is listed in SRB2, mine almost never appears. I CHOSE "ADVERTISE ON INTERNET"! –SonicMaster 14:54, 1 December 2007 (PST)

If I am under a ban, how would I go about lifting it without having to register on the fourms? §WafflezHedgehog§§blahblahblah§§*facepalms*§

I asked a question for a reason, you know. --§HoneyComb§

Sorry, only way I know is to post on the Master Server Banlist topic on the forums, tell him your IP and which ban you're stuck under. ~ Blue Warrior talk 12:34, 2 December 2007 (PST)

Damn, I guess I'll have to wait thill the ban expires >.<. --§HoneyComb§

Yay, I fixed the problem! I had the masterserver set to SRB2.SERVERGAME.ORG 5029, when it should have been SRB2.SERVERGAME.ORG 28900. --§HoneyComb§

Cueball's Dedicated Server question

Why does he get to have a permenant server? ~TheTogeticMaster~

What happened to being QwertyHoneyTheWaffleCombMystiqs? Anyways, because he probably bugged Logan until Logan decided to do it, because a permanent server isn't really permanent, it's just that Logan manually adds the server. ~Kaysakado  •  Talk  •  20:49, 24 December 2007 (UTC)

If I bugged him, could I get a perm server? Hehehe >_>, QwertyuHoneyWafflez / TheTogeticMasta

Advertising

Back when I hosted in the past, I advertised a link to my forums for the community revolving around my server, as well as my server statistics page. I seem to recall that the rules used to state that advertising was only restricted from server names and not in-game. Does this mean that I am no longer allowed to link to a legitimate 40 user forum that exists solely for the purpose of my server community?

I also recall that FuriousFox did a similar thing with his server/stats webpage. Would this mean that he also wouldn't be allowed to do this, were he to host again? --Jazz 16:14, 14 October 2008 (UTC)

According to Cue's ruleset, "We don't care about your horribly designed website or your 3 forum messageboard where you are the only user, go find someone who does." So I think the rule only applies to further keep stupidity and spam out. And your community exists for the sole purpose of your server, then... I would think it's okay.

Really, though, I think you'd be best off asking Cue about it. He'd know better than I would, anyway. ~ Blue Warrior talk contrib 19:02, 15 October 2008 (UTC)

Then I guess I'll direct his attention to this, thanks. --Jazz 20:10, 15 October 2008 (UTC)

In your server name, no. As long as you only advertise your site on your server within reason, that is, not going "GO TO MY SITE LULZ! HTTP://SRB2.ORG" and acting like an idiot, you'll be fine. If you want to really play it safe, stick to putting it in the Message of the Day. -- Cue talk contrib 12:53, 16 October 2008 (UTC)

A MOTD in the form of a short CECHO has been what I've always done and apparantly will be what I will continue to do. Thanks for the clarification. --Jazz 13:46, 16 October 2008 (UTC)

The MS is offically defunct

...yeah. Someone needs to figure out what to do with this article. --Spazzo 00:33, 3 April 2009 (UTC)
How about my edit of making it the past tense?--Glaber 01:46, 3 April 2009 (UTC)

I'm one step ahead of you, Spazzo. Check this out. ~ Blue Warrior talk contrib 03:04, 3 April 2009 (UTC)

Sounds like a plan to me. --Glaber 03:47, 3 April 2009 (UTC)
