Circles of rings and blue spheres
Thing types 604–609 are circles of rings and/or blue spheres intended for use in NiGHTS maps, although they can be placed in other maps as well. Circles exist in two different sizes: Small circles have a radius of 96 fracunits and consist of 8 items, while big circles have a radius of 192 fracunits and consist of 16 items. For each size, there are three possible combinations of items: one containing only rings, one containing only blue spheres, and one containing half of each. This makes for a total of six different types of circles.
The radius of the circles is measured from the center of the circle to the centers of the items. Since both rings and blue spheres have a height of 24 fracunits, the distance from the center of the circle to the outer borders of the items is 108 fracunits for the small circles and 204 fracunits for the big circles. Note that the Z position of these Thing types determines the height of the circle's center from the floor, not its bottom. Therefore, small circles should have a Z position of at least 132 fracunits and big circles should have a Z position of at least 228 fracunits, to ensure that the lowest item floats above the floor at the usual height of 24 fracunits.
Thing type | Items | Radius (fracunits) | Minimum Z position |
---|---|---|---|
604 | 8 rings | 96 | 132 |
605 | 16 rings | 192 | 228 |
606 | 8 blue spheres | 96 | 132 |
607 | 16 blue spheres | 192 | 228 |
608 | 4 rings and 4 blue spheres | 96 | 132 |
609 | 8 rings and 8 blue spheres | 192 | 228 |
