About the Custom Main Page
Welcome to the custom Main Page for the SRB2Wiki! This is currently experimental, and isn't official at all. If you would like to edit this page, you may do so without hesitation, for this Main Page is a collabaritive project. However, I ask you the you do not edit the this paragraph or the section that has the news in it.
Welcome to the SRB2Wiki!
Welcome to the SRB2 Wiki! The SRB2 Wiki is a collaborative effort by the SRB2 community to provide helpful and detailed information on a wide range of topics pertaining to Sonic Robo Blast 2, such as on the game itself, its levels, how to beat the game, as well as editing information for budding wadders and expert wadders alike.
Being a wiki, that means you, the visitor, can contribute information too! Feel free to write new articles and add to existing ones. Be sure to read the Style Guide for Editors first before starting out. It is official policy, so it's highly recommended that editors adhere to the guidelines in the reading. It also includes primers on wiki markup, which is an easy way of formatting pages on the Wiki, as well as prospects that you may like to follow when you edit articles here.
The SRB2 Wiki is written to help out people in the SRB2 community on their matters with the game. We hope you enjoy the Wiki!

Tuesday, November 27th, 2007 (Custom Main Page News) The custom Main Page has been launched! Probably noone's going to use it or edit it, but it's worth a try, isn't it? ~Kaysakado • Talk 16:12, 27 November 2007 (PST)

After recent talks between Spazzo, Digiku, and myself, it has been determined that SRB2 Wiki needs new authority structuring. Following that, changes have been made.
- We have changed authority categories, 3 total: "Head Admin", "Founder", and "Maintainer".
- I am now "Head Admin"
- Spazzo and Hotdog003 are now "Founders"
- Blue Warrior, Oogaland, and Digiku are now "Maintainers".
- Mystic gave up his authority entirely.
This came about after a recent argument over control of SRB2 Wiki and how it was run, and it was decided that an authority was needed
The basic idea behind these changes is this: The Wiki needs a "Head Admin", someone who can make decisions and generally knows what he is doing. After much talk, we all agreed that Digiku is best for that, but he has made known that he has no interest, so the job has been handed to me. The "Head Admin" has the responsibility to make important decisions and proposals.
The "Head Admin" should, on principle, consult the other Sysops before most administrative actions, but this is not a necessity, case pending. He also needs to maintain a constant presence, not leaving without prior notice, and be open to any and all proposals by other members. The "Head Admin" is also the only one who can promote users to another level.
The "Founders" have the same authority as the "Head Admin", save user promotion, but aren't generally expected to use them. They're more consultants than acting administrators. They may excersize their powers, but it shouldn't be on the same level as "Head Admin".
The "Maintainers" are essentially moderators. Their job is to revert vandalism, block vandals, propose ideas, and respond in a timely manner to all proposals made. In order for a Maintainer to stay as such, he must be fairly active (Maintaining a visible presence. Not necessarily editing every day, but something people can see), and respond to proposals in a timely manner.
We feel this structure will benefit the Wiki, because it allows for a real authority head that can make decisions without ridiculous power struggles and arguments. This will allow for easier implementation of Wiki standards, goals, etc. Hopefully, this will help SRB2Wiki in the long run.
After an informal questioning in #SRB2Fun, it was made apparent that I was the best candidate for the (or probably was the) owner of the Wiki. Internal talks between DW, Spazz, and myself were in agreement. However, for official clarity, I actively declined to take the responsibility for reasons of interest.
I'll clarify on the new positions to add on to DW's words:
All three levels (Head Admin, Maintainers, and Founders) get the same sysop rights, with the exception of user promotion, which only the Head Admin gets. The rest leans on "expectations" of the three levels.
- The Head Admin is essentially the "owner" of the Wiki, and gets ultimate "creative control" of the site.
- The Maintainers, on the other hand, are relied for on input to the Wiki's operations. They may also perform administrative actions to an extent. Essentially, they have to, 1. Maintain a presence, and 2. Be credible. This also means that inactive Maintainers get demoted.
- Founders are so named as more of a decorative title, but still have sysop rights. However, they don't necessarily have to be relied on, and it's firmly established that Maintainers have more responsibility than they do.
My personal belief is that the main reason the Wiki wasn't working is that there was misplacement of power. Spazzo, Dark Warrior, and I agreed on this solution. As Spazzo and Hotdog003 were the owners before, Dark Warrior is now the new owner of the SRB2 Wiki. I personally recommended him for doing numerous, decisive, and exceptional work.
For more information, please consult the About SRB2 Wiki page. Thanks. Hopefully now we can finally get some work done. :D
Saturday, September 29th, 2007 Congratulations to Oogaland, our newest Sysop! After reading his edits, and finding them excellent, as well as figuring in that I could use another active sysop, I decided to add him on. Again, congratulations to you, Ooga! ~DarkWarrior
Thursday, September 13th, 2007 The Wiki was down for two days, but after a lot of work and listening to some Britney Spears music (yes, Britney Spears!), it's finally back up. During this time, maintenance was performed, including installation of a new version of the MediaWiki software for the site! Along with this upgrade came some new additions. Here's the nutshell of the changes; the most important may possibly be the first three:
- New logo, courtesy Neo Chaotikal. A new favicon is shown as well.
- New search plugin for Internet Explorer 7, Mozilla Firefox 2.x, and other supported browsers. For Firefox, allows search suggestions as well. Add the search plugin through your search bar in the upper right (by default).
- New simplified URLs. Instead of the old "http://srb2wiki.sepwich.com/index.php?title=Main_Page", the new "http://srb2wiki.sepwich.com/wiki/Main_Page" is now used!
- Improved category browsing. Within a category page, one can examine child categories by clicking the "+" sign next to them. See the SRB2 category for an example. Courtesy CategoryTree.
- New footnotes feature. Allows one to make a footnote and to also list all footnotes in one place. Can either be citations or simple notes. See Cite for more information. Courtesy Cite.
- New imagemap feature. Allows one to make imagemaps out of images. See ImageMap for more information. Courtesy ImageMap.
- Installed ParserFunctions extension, allowing for conditional operators in templates. See ParserFunctions for more information. More complicated templates can be coded. Among other things, this allows some Wikipedia templates to be copied over intact. Courtesy ParserFunctions.
- Overall reliability improvements. The old version of MediaWiki, 1.5.0, was replaced by the new version, 1.11.0. Over two years of progress naturally brings these improvements.
The Wiki is now new, improved, and ready to go live again! And don't let that Britney Spears music bother you with that in the least. If it makes you feel better, it wasn't all Britney Spears. :)
Friday, August 10th, 2007 Alright, I think we can all agree that the SRB2Wiki needs more people working on it. And to get people active, we need motivation. Well, I just had a talk with FuriousFox on IRC, and he agreed to set up a nice little thing on #SRB2Fun. The top 5 contributors of the month will be given a voice on #SRB2Fun, and a special little section on #SRB2Fun's page here accrediting them for their work. The top 5 will change every month, so that everyone has a chance to earn this. In order to qualify, all you need is to be registered, have all edits conform to The Style Guide, and to be logged in when editing (Else I can not properly credit you). I will personally be watching the edits and checking the quality, and every month, the best 5 editors will receive a voice in #SRB2Fun. Let's hope this finally gets people working!
Monday, August 6th, 2007 Thanks to SSNTails, we now have new image verification set on the Wiki! This has been applied in two places. The first is in the page editing form. If you are not logged in to SRB2 Wiki, you must input the correct code in order to edit pages. The second is located in the registrar. Simply input the code, along with filling in account data, and it will work fine.
If using image verification does not sit well with anyone, simply click the "Remember Me" option when you next log in. This will automatically log you in each time you enter the site. However, currently there is a bug in this that still gives the verification form, even when logged in. Once this bug is fixed, this method will be useful for those who do not like image verification.
This has come about as a result of bot edits. There is also talk of the possibility of closing off all pages entirely from unregistered edit. To voice an opinion on this, please click on this link, and add your comments to it.
Saturday, June 16th, 2007 The Wiki now has a Requests list! The Requests list is a listing of topics which users can add on to, covering which topics they haven't found on the Wiki and which they would like to see. If you wanted to find something here but you didn't, then please add it to the Requests list so somebody can write about it. Thanks!
Wednesday, May 9th, 2007 A Category browsing system is now implemented in the SRB2 Wiki!
The Category system replaces the old Table of Contents page. The categories should be easier to browse through, and they should also be more thorough. While the old Table of Contents page consisted of a selection of pages, the Category system takes into account many more; close to all of the pages.
One can start browsing by selecting either the Sonic Robo Blast 2 category, which deals with the game itself; or the Editing category, which deals with editing SRB2. Instructions on browsing categories can be found on either of those two pages.
Friday, April 20th, 2007 The SRB2 Wiki has adopted the new Style Guide for Editors as official policy of the Wiki. It includes guidelines on language style, primers on wiki markup, and prospects that can very well be followed.
We recommend that both new editors and existing editors read up on these guidelines and try to adhere to them as best as they can. The Style Guide is a significant update to the former single "Writing and Editing Guidelines" page that used to serve as standards. Upon writing the Style Guide, new standards were adopted and clarifications to existing standards were made.
For existing editors, we recommend that you especially read up on these:
- Style > On Title Capitalization
- Specific Cases of Style > On Forming Titles
- Specific Cases of Style > SRB2 Screenshots
- What the SRB2 Wiki Should Be
Not to downplay on the other guidelines, but it's felt that those listed above are deserving of special attention for existing editors. We still recommend that the other guidelines be read as well.
The reason for adopting these new guidelines is to promote the Wiki as an exceptional SRB2 resource–a goal which we hope to achieve one day.
Tuesday, April 17th, 2007 I have completed porting the SRB2 Specials list to the Wiki. While not by any means perfect, the Linedef and Sector pages have been virtually filled, with a few minor exceptions. Hopefully this means that the Wiki will be more useful for people now.
Monday, March 19th, 2007 While I'm here and stopping by for a little bit, I thought I'd take the opportunity to say "Congratulations" to the new moderators. Thanks to your previous efforts, this wiki was picked up from the dead and given life again. I'm also happy to say that the recent activity and decision-making has been extremely intelligent — exactly what I wanted to see back when I made that long post about the wiki before my big activity in the wiki.
Keep it up. If this big bout of activity and intelligent decision-making is kept alive for a long time, then I may just have true hope for this wiki yet.
Monday, March 19th, 2007 Thank you to all who submitted moderation entries. I'd now like to acknowledge our three new moderators, Dark Warrior, Mystic, and Blue Warrior!
Monday, Febuary 26th, 2007 Alright guys, it's that time of year again.
Moderator Submissions. This place is in dire need of people who will constantly keep watch over, and work on it. Ever since Digiku's left, the place has slowed down to a halt, in terms of progress and sophistication. I am hoping to be able to recruit from one to five new members to become mod's for the Wiki.
Think you have what it takes? Send an e-mail to "antonakes at hotmail dot com" [no quotes] (scrambled due to e-mail harvesters) with the E-mail subject "SRB2 Wiki Moderator Submission", containing the following information:
- Links to previous work on the Wiki
- Good Personality Traits
- Track Record (Contributions to community, past affairs, etc.)
- Why you think you should be a moderator
- Anything else about yourself that you feel is appropiate
I plan(/hope) to have chosen, and promoted my new assistants by the end of March, at the very latest. I will update this message, when the submission period ends. Good luck to all!
EDIT: Submission time Closed!

Thank you! I thank Spazzo and Hotdog for my position on the mod team. As first act of moderator, I changed the main page to make the SRB2 Wiki more accessible and more involved. Also, I have written writing and editing guidelines, so be sure to read those and conform to our new standards. Also, read Wikipedia's wiki markup primer – that's a great resource, too!
One more note is that images finally work properly on the wiki! This mainly means that you can now place images on articles as thumbnails. The wiki is now able to automatically resize images to whatever fits – a feat it has not been able to do before. Hopefully, this will make dealing with images a lot easier now.
Tuesday, November 26th, 2006 Better late than never, eh? Well, anyways, I would just like to announce that we now have a new member on the SRB2 Wiki team, one who has really put in the extra effort to really make this wiki stand out. Welcome, Digiku, to the mod team!

Hello! I'm not dead, just real life getting hold. This place seems to have become *the* reference place for SRB2. Well done, everyone!
This time, I just added the emerald locations page to the top right list for any cheaters who really want to find them.
Tuesday, August 15th, 2006
Sorry about that, we are now back up. Our webhost changed the directory on us, but we're back now.

Hey guys, you see this place? ITS DEAD. There hasn't been all that much new content being added to STARS in a while. I'm just pointing out that Hotdog003 and I decided to make this wiki to help people with SRB2, and it isn't helpful if the wiki is outdated. So, please, get some more content on STARS, it would really be helpful, and not just to me.
Monday, March 13th, 2006 Hey guys! I'd just like to point out, that TNG2W is now not only for your wadding needs, but for all of your your SRB2 needs too! People have already started posting new pages such as emblem locations, and modifications to SRB2. I hope this helps users!
Monday, January 2nd, 2006 Hey, guys! Seems like there are some tournaments going on! Check out the new SRB2 Tournaments page!
Friday, November 25th, 2005 Hey! Go add your birthday here!
Tuesday, October 18th, 2005 Well how 'bout it! Thank you guys! We just make TNG2W public today, and we already have a total of 9 users, as well as TONS of new pages! Hotdog003 and I just wanna say thanks for all the support!
Sunday, October 16, 2005 TNG2W is UP AND RUNNING! The Newbie's Guide To Wad will come up soon. Also, Spazzo has offered to help build this, and is now co-administrator.
