MAPAW, Prismatic Angel Zone Act 1, abbreviated as PAZ1, is the first act of Prismatic Angel Zone, the extra zone in Mystic Realm. If the player has collected all emeralds, they will be warped to this level in Aerial Garden Zone Act 4. After beating Prismatic Angel Zone Act 3, the entire zone will also be available from the Secrets menu. The level is extremely difficult, consisting of very thin rainbow-colored platforms laid out over a large death pit.

Walkthrough

PAZ1 consists of four areas, which are linked together by teleporters. You start each of the first three areas at the bottom of a large square room covered entirely in a death pit. Your task is to climb up via a series of very thin rainbow-colored platforms to a teleporter at the top of the room, which takes you to the next area. The fourth area consists of a single long platform with the Level End Sign. There are two Star Posts in the level, which are located at the start of the second and third area. There are no rings or other items besides springs in the level, but also no hazards aside from the death pit.

First area

The first area starts simple, with a few platforms in front of you. Platforms that are slightly above you may be hard to see because they are so thin. If you're not sure where the next platform begins, jump up to get a better look at it. When you come to a group of four pillars, the path makes a right turn, with the next platform to the right of the pillars. Eventually you will reach a yellow spring, which allows you to reach a high platform crossing overhead. Walk across that platform and then drop down to a slightly lower one going right.

After a few more platforms and a two left turns, you will reach a point where there are no further platforms in front of you. Instead you must jump over the starting area to a platform to your right. This is a moderately long jump, so take a running start to gain momentum before you jump. From there you must jump over two long gaps to reach a platform surrounded by four pillars, with a high platform leading left overhead. Use a tiny platform with a yellow spring to your left to reach the higher platform. Jump across two more gaps to reach a platform surrounded by two rows of pillars. Look to your left between the last two pillars to see a platform in the distance. Jump to it and then to the one behind it. Turn left and jump to a platform with a yellow spring. Take the spring to a higher platform and another one to an even higher platform. From there, a series of platforms leads to the first teleporter.

Second area

The second area starts with a Star Post. Activate it and then jump to either of the two platforms to the side to reach the high platform in front of you. Now you will have to jump across two very narrow platforms to reach a longer one in the distance. Control your momentum very carefully during these jumps – you will need some speed to cross the gaps, but once you approach the platforms, backpedal a little so that you don't overshoot. After reaching the longer platform, continue to your right. A yellow spring will take you up to a high platform leading to the right. Now you need to cross a very long gap. You can use a spindash-jump, but don't charge it fully or you will overshoot. Alternatively, you can also cross the gap with a jump and a well-timed thok. Take a running start, using the entire length of the platform to gain speed. Jump off at the very end and then thok at the highest point during the jump. You will just barely reach the platform on the other side.

After jumping across two more platforms, you will reach a row of springs and another long gap. Simply running into the springs doesn't give you enough speed to cross the gap, but you can spindash into them and let them propel you to the other side. Again, don't charge the spindash fully or you may overshoot. Alternatively, you can take a running start and thok into the springs. This will give you enough horizontal speed to cross the gap. On the other side of the gap is another row of springs. Try to avoid them, but if you can't, backpedal as soon as you hit them to avoid being propelled into the pit.

Once you've reached the other side, jump up to the platform leading right and continue across a platform with a long gap in the middle. You will reach a platform surrounded by two rows of pillars, with a similar platform to the right. Jump between the pillars to the other platform and walk across it. At the end, look to your right to see two narrow platforms leading to a third platform surrounded by pillars. Make your way to that platform and walk across it to find a yellow spring. Use the spring to reach the top of one of the pillars. Now jump across the pillars to reach a high platform leading right. Jump across another gap to reach a platform next to the second platform surrounded by pillars, which you crossed earlier. Now you can jump across the tops of the pillars, one of which holds a spring that takes you up to a high platform leading left.

To your left you will find a series of narrow platforms with long gaps between them. As before, carefully control your momentum as you jump across them. After two left turns, you will come across a row of yellow springs. A very narrow platform floats in front of you, which holds another row of springs. Bounce from the first row of springs to the second and from there to a high platform, with the second teleporter to your left.

Third area

Like the second area, the third area begins with a Star Post. Afterwards, you must jump across a series of narrow platforms to reach a longer one leading left. After jumping across a wide gap with a long platform in the middle, you will reach a stack of platforms. The platforms are intangible from below, so you can jump up through the stack to reach the top. Turn left again to see three sets of two narrow platforms each in front of you. The second platform of each set is slightly higher than the second one, forming a step. Jump across these platforms and walk past the pillars on the final one. Turn right to see a small platform with a yellow spring. Jump to the edge of the platform, but be careful not to hit the spring. After landing on the platform, turn right again and use the spring to reach a platform above you.

Turn right and walk across the platform to reach the edge of the pit, with no apparent path forward. In the distance, you should see the starting platform with the Star Post and a higher platform above it. You must reach that higher platform, which requires a very difficult jump across the pit. Using a spindash-jump is possible, but very risky, since it's very easy to overshoot. A slightly safer but still dangerous method is to use a jump and thok with a full running start. Use the entire length of the platform for your running start to gain maximum speed before jumping off. If you thok at the highest point during the jump, you should just barely reach the platform on the other side.

From there, continue to your left, jumping across another very narrow platform to reach a platform surrounded by pillars. Turn right to see a narrow platform holding a row of diagonal yellow springs. Jump into the springs and let them propel you to a high platform leading left. At the end of that platform is another row of diagonal springs. Run into them and press forward the entire time you're in mid-air. You will reach a higher platform on the other side of the room. Use the yellow spring at the end of that platform to reach the top of one of the surrounding pillars. Jump across the pillars to reach a higher platform behind you. Walk across that platform and turn right in the middle to see another platform leading to the right.

At the end of that platform is another row of springs, which lead to a platform in the distance. However, the platform is obscured by a series of pillars that you have to maneuver around. Use a running start or a thok to gain maximum speed before hitting the springs. Then use your strafe keys in mid-air to move around the first pillar and then back towards the middle to pass between the second set of pillars. After reaching the other side, jump up to your left to reach the third and final teleporter. It will take you to the fourth area, where you only have to run across a long platform to reach the Level End Sign.

Sonic's emblem

After jumping to the platform with the teleporter at the end of the third area, instead of taking the teleporter to the final area, look across the pit on the other side. You should see the emblem floating in the air near the edge of the room. You can reach it with a fully charged spindash-jump. After collecting it, you will fall towards the pit. If you don't want to lose a life, try using your thok to change your momentum and land on one of the platforms below.

Speedrunning

Almost every spring in the level can be used as a shortcut if you thok or spindash into it from the right angle.
