Talk:Linedef type 222
"The downside is that the GFZGRASS texture is not rendered from all sides."
Could they make one that does? –SonicMaster 06:58, 3 December 2007 (PST)
This one DOES render it from all sides in software. Whoever wrote this article must only play in OpenGL. -Mystic 09:25, 3 December 2007 (PST)
That means Software is inefficient: It renders insides of FOFs when it doesn't need to. ~Kaysakado • Talk 10:25, 3 December 2007 (PST)
For something like the GFZGRASS
texture, it needs that. Perhaps another linedef should be created so that only back or front ones are rendered? –SonicMaster 11:28, 3 December 2007 (PST)
Until then, we can use a Custom FOF. ~Kaysakado • Talk 12:16, 3 December 2007 (PST)
Wouldn't the desirable effect be walls rendered on both sides, though? I mean, you can see through the non-existent floor surfaces. :P (This isn't argued for any particular reason.) --Digiku talk 15:32, 3 December 2007 (PST)
It's also beneficial for translucent FOFs. OpenGL only renders the front side, but software renders all sides, even the ones on the other side. -Mystic 08:49, 4 December 2007 (PST)
That's why we have some of those FOF flags, like FF_BOTHPLANES, etc. ~Kaysakado • Talk 13:06, 4 December 2007 (PST)
GFZGRASS doesn't render properly on the sides of these FOFs...
...yet the description says that it works fine. Is it different in 2.0? --Kyasarin 19:45, 5 October 2009 (UTC)
