Talk:SRB2 Doombuilder Tutorial
The menu settings are technical information and should go into a SRB2:DB page... They currently just serve to make the tutorial longer and harder to follow.
- The menu item explanation is there for the purpose of making this guide complete. I wrote this page in the intent of creating a guide that covers every aspect of the program. If someone wanted to make a separate page describing the menu's different features, then I wouldn't object to that. As for JEV3 rewriting the article to make it less "technical", keep it simple, but professional, alright? ~Kuja
- It adds unnecessary length by having a whole bunch of technical stuff. It is a tutorial for making a map in SRB2:DB... and should be such, not a guide as to the new features of SRB2:DB... which should be in the SRB2:DB article itself. Too short is not enough, too long is too discouraging. It is always important to come somewhere in between. And simplicity is my intention in revising the article but I have no intention of making it unprofessional. I was planning on adding a section on Preliminary procedures (thok barrier, planning), Layout (basic sector stuff), Advanced Layout, (executors and thing placement), and Finishing (already added) JEV3 16:12, 4 October 2007 (PDT)
- I understand your reasoning, and I would have to agree with you. I wrote this article in a similar fashion to the
XWE Tutorial, which I suppose must be half the problem; that will have to be revamped as well. At some time, I will remove the menu explanation, and move it to another page. ~Kuja
Rewrite
This needs rewritten. Plus, it's missing necessary tutorial stuff. –SonicMaster 20:29, 12 November 2007 (PST)
Was planning on doing that... However the contest needed my attention so I just stuck to walkthroughs. JEV3 21:02, 12 November 2007 (PST)
This tutorial seems to be of no help to me; sorry. :( Why wasn't this based on ST218's DB tutorial? --Digiku talk 08:38, 14 December 2007 (PST)
Editing this article cannot save it. It must be rewritten. For example, the thok barrier tutorial makes it look like there is only one sector (the one-sided one), not a two-sided sector inside the one-sided sector.
OK. Actually go through the process of creating a semi-playable level, making sure to put FOFs in it, etc. This is how I write tutorials like NiGHTS Tutorial, and those are the easiest to understand. –SonicMaster 08:51, 22 January 2008 (PST)
Actually, I eventually want to make one. But I do not want to base it off ST218's. It's a good tutorial, but I think I can actually make a better one from scratch. All the lessons are going to end up as part of one WAD, making it a playable level. It probably won't be a great level, but...yeah. This should take quite a while to make. –SonicMaster 14:53, 3 February 2008 (PST)
Alpha Test
Are you sure that's the right name? Doesn't "alpha" mean the finished product? Therefore, shouldn't it be "Gamma Testing"?
Or am I wrong? –SonicMaster 00:31, 14 December 2007 (PST)
