Crystal Void Zone was originally created to mirror Chaos Space Zone, another Final Demo 1.08 map, for the Chaos rotation. It featured similarly overpowered powerups, especially when played as a match stage. It was one of the more complex stages in the Chaos stage rotation, but still was far too simple to be reused as a match stage.
Crystal Void is now being revived as a Special Stage in SRB2 Halloween 2008. The main difference between this version and the 1.08 version is that all weapon rings and Chaos spawn points were removed and the level was made to no longer be compatible with match mode.
