MAPBJ, Liftoff Gantry Zone Act 2, is the second act of the seventh zone in Tortured Planet. It is similar to the previous act, although it is deeper within the station and there are no more cliff elements. There are further technological hazards in this level, as well as two separate 2D mode sections.

Walkthrough

Points of interest

Chance room

There is a special bonus room accessible from the room with the giant rocket. In this room, there are nine small doors and a button with a big "?" on it. When you press this button, one or two of those doors will open to reveal prizes of varying value. The best of these prizes is five extra lives, and the worst of them is a Sharp, which will immediately attack you if released. In between these extremes, you can also win a number of other powerups. Furthermore, the odds of individual doors opening are weighted towards the worse prizes. For instance, the odds of winning the Sharp are significantly greater than the odds of winning the five extra lives.

Atomic pile room

The room with the atomic pile in it (the room visible in the Level Select picture) is actually supposed to be a crude replication of the Sprodj Atomic Pile from The Adventures of Tintin (specifically, page 13 of Destination Moon). Unfortunately, SRB2's graphical limitations prevent the resemblance from being very striking, but if you examine the room from precisely the right angle, it should be noticeable.

Emblem locations

Sonic

Just after the second 2D section, turn around and go backwards through the section in 3D. In the first open section you come to, you will notice some platforms hidden behind a structure which you could not access in 2D mode. The emblem is behind a box on one of these platforms.

Tails

There is a small hole in the ceiling of the Chance Room, along the same wall as the tunnel you enter through. The emblem is inside that passage.

Knuckles

In the first 2D section, just after you come out of the zoom tube pipe, jump on top of the pipe and run backwards. Climb up the vertical section, and you will see a hole in the wall. The emblem is inside this hole, along with an extra life.
