ZDBSP is ZDoom's internal nodebuilder. On September 11, 2003, Randi Heit released it as an external program under the GPL, so people could use it for non-ZDoom projects. The current version is 1.19.
ZDBSP is included in all modern map editors, including Zone Builder and Ultimate Zone Builder. For SRB2 maps, it should be run with the parameters -R -m MAP01 %F -o %F
. For UDMF maps, using ZDBSP is mandatory since no other nodebuilder supports the format. Note that ZDBSP does not build the REJECT
table, which ZDoom does not use. While this makes it considerably faster than ZenNode, especially on larger maps, it may negatively affect the game's performance when playing the map, since the game has to perform all line-of-sight calculations during runtime.
