MAPCA, Metal Wasteland Zone Act 2, abbreviated as MWZ2, is the second act of Metal Wasteland Zone, the fourth zone in Blue Heaven. Unlike the first act, it mostly takes place inside a factory, with only one short outdoor area. At the end of this act, a teleporter leads to a boss fight against the Egg Mobile.

Walkthrough

First section

Walk forward from the starting area. You should see an arrow pointing right in front of you. Walk up to it and enter the corridor to your right. Walk up the staircase and turn left at the top to enter a room with a large pool of slime to your right. Continue walking forward and exit the room through a corridor on the other side. Turn left and walk down a staircase to find a red button. Press the button to open a door to your left, which leads to a higher level of the room with the arrow near the start. Here the path splits: You can go either left or right.

Left path

Walk through the gap to your left with the pipe hanging overhead and then turn around. Behind you is a conveyor belt with two crushers that leads to a teleporter. Jump onto the conveyor belt just before the first crusher crushes against the floor and then pass underneath it when it recedes. Pass underneath the second crusher as well and then step into the teleporter. In the room you are teleported to, exit through the corridor in front of you. After a right turn, you will pass through an opening door. Here the paths rejoin, with the path continuing to the right.

Right path

Turn right and walk underneath the pipe that extends from the large block in front of you. Enter the small outdoor area to your right and use the yellow springs to reach the higher ledge. Walk through the building entrance and follow the corridor leading left. You will reach a platform that moves up and down. Don't stand on the striped floor beneath the platform since it can crush you. Step on the platform when it is at the bottom and let it carry you up. At the top, continue forward until you reach a closed door and a left turn. Here the paths rejoin, with the path continuing to the left.

Second section

Walk through the glass tunnel, which crosses the starting area from above. On the other side, pass through the opening door to reach a balcony at the top of the room with the large slime pool that you passed through earlier. Jump on top of the fence surrounding the balcony and then jump to the walkway in front of you. Walk across it to the other side and then jump to the balcony to your left. Walk through the opened door to reach an outdoor area, with the first and only Star Post to your right. Continue along the walkway that surrounds the building. After a right turn, you will reach a drop, with another walkway below you. Jump down to it. Now you have two options to continue: You can either pass through the small air vent to your right or you can jump across the gap in front of you to reach a staircase leading upwards.

Forward path

Jump across the gap in front of you and then walk up the staircase to reach an entrance to the factory. If you miss and fall into the slime, use the springs to get back out quickly. On the left side of the room are two stacked ledges that you can climb via yellow springs. At the top, two floating platforms lead to the ledge with the factory entrance. After walking through the entrance, you will reach a balcony at the top of a room with a large lava pool. Continue forward along the left side of the balcony and jump onto the surrounding fence at the end. In front of you is a pipe with a diagonal yellow spring. Jump to it and let the spring propel you through a small opening at the top of the wall in front of you. Here the paths rejoin. If you miss, there is a yellow spring at the bottom that you can use to reach a small pipe extending from the wall. From there, turn around and jump to the pipe with the diagonal yellow spring to try again.

Right path

Walk through the air vent to reach a small room with two crates. Walk between the crates and enter another air duct on the other side. It leads to a room with a large lava pool. Walk along the outer rim surrounding the lava. On the far right side of the room, you will find a yellow spring that you can use to reach the top of a small pipe extending from the wall. Turn around and jump to a larger pipe with a diagonal yellow spring. The spring will propel you through a small opening at the top of the wall. Here the paths rejoin.

Underwater path

In addition to the two clearly visible factory entrances, there is a third entrance hidden in the slime pool behind the entrance of the forward path. However, there is no feasible way to use it safely, since there are no Invincibility Monitors in the level and the only Liquid Shield is located later on in the level. The entrance leads into a corridor with a group of fans at the end that will lift you out of the slime. If you walk forward afterwards, you will enter the room with the lava pool where the paths rejoin, with the pipes that lead up to the exit to your left.

Final section and boss

Walk through the corridor that the spring propelled you into. In Race mode, it leads to a room with the Level End Sign. In Single Player mode, it leads to a room with a low ceiling and two holes in the floor. Jump through one of the holes to land in a room with an elevator. Enter the elevator and let it carry you downwards. At the bottom, turn left and walk up a staircase to reach a teleporter leading to the boss. The boss fight is a standard fight against the Egg Mobile on the roof of the factory building. Be careful not to fall off the building and land in the death pit below. After defeating the boss, an Egg Capsule will rise from the center of the roof.

Points of interest

Extra lives

  • An extra life sits on top of the glass tunnel that crosses the starting area from above. Sonic cannot reach it, but Tails and Knuckles can fly/climb up to it.
  • When you enter the room with the large slime pool near the start, look to your right to see three pipes extending from the wall. An extra life sits on top of the last one. Jump across the pipes to reach it.
  • At the first path split, turn left. Instead of entering the conveyor belt that leads to the teleporter, walk through the gap to the right of it to find an extra life.
  • After walking through the glass tunnel after the first path split rejoins, look to your left to see a red button. Pressing that button will drain the slime in the room that you re-enter via the high balcony afterwards. Jump down to the floor in the drained slime pool and look behind the platform in the far right corner to find an extra life.
  • In the outdoor area where the second path split starts, there is a pit in the center of the large slime pool that contains an extra life and a Silver Ring Monitor. To reach them safely, you need a Liquid Shield.

Shields

  • In the factory room with the large slime pool, there is a fenced-off platform in the right corner across the slime. The safest way to reach it as Sonic is to jump down to it once you pass through the room a second time from above. The platform leads to a small corridor with an Attraction Shield.
  • In the outdoor area where the second path split starts, there is a tall cliff on the left side of the room that contains an Inferno Shield and a Super Ring Monitor. You can jump to it from the high walkway with the Star Post. If you miss and fall into the valley below, there are two moving platforms nearby that you can use to reach the cliff.
  • In the room with the lava pool where the second path split rejoins, a Liquid Shield sits on top of a fenced-off platform to the right of the exit. As Sonic, you can reach it by jumping across a series of pipes extending from the outer walls.

Emerald token locations

Token #1
Take the right path at the second path split in the outdoor area. In the dark room with the two crates, look behind the second crate to find a button. Pressing the button opens a door behind the teleporter that leads to the boss, revealing a passage that leads to two Super Ring Monitors and a token.

Emblem locations

  • Sonic: Take the right path at the second path split in the outdoor area. In the dark room with the two crates, the emblem is to the right of the first crate.
  • Tails: In the outdoor area, when you reach the large slime pool at the second path split, fly up the factory wall to the right to reach an alcove with the emblem.
  • Knuckles: After walking through the glass tunnel after the first path split rejoins, look to your right to see a hole in the ceiling in the corner. Climb up through the hole to reach a small room with the emblem.
