MAP10, Castle Eggman Zone Act 1, abbreviated as CEZ1, is the first act of Castle Eggman Zone, the fourth zone in Sonic Robo Blast 2 v2.2. It takes place in a forest leading to Eggman's castle and ends with a sequence where the player must get through the bridge to the castle before it collapses. It features spinning maces and brambles as hazards, mud that can slow the player down, and spinning chains that players can use to throw themselves upwards and forwards. The level introduces three new enemies: The Robo-Hood is a stationary enemy that shoots arrows at the player, the Lance-a-Bot is a large knight-like enemy with a lance who charges at players that come too close, and the Egg Guard carries a shield that pushes the player away. The Lance-a-Bot and Egg Guard both take two hits to defeat.

You start off in a fenced cliff. Head up the ramp in front of you and follow the U-turn. At the end of it, jump up the ledge to your left and follow the ring trail to land in a muddy lake. From here, you can either continue forward, or head to a cave to your left.

Left branch

Jump out of the mud and head to the ledge marked with stone pillars and a red banner. Manouver through the clattering spikes on the floor, then enter the cave at the end. Avoid the spikes and brambles on the floor, then leave this cave to reach a cliff above the beginning area. Follow the ramp to your left until the end, then take the diagonal yellow spring to a reach a ledge with stone walls. Use the spinning chains to your right to launch yourself to a cliff at the top marked by three yellow springs. From here, dodge the Egg Guards and spinning maces and follow the corridor until the very end, where you'll find the first Star Post. The chains in front of you will send you to the two stone towers that connect the left branch and parts of the forward branch.

Forward branch

Jump out of the mud and keep moving forward, dodging the Robo-Hood's arrows and the Lance-a-bot's charges. When you reach a mace spinning on a tree, turn right to find a big pool of mud and three yellow springs. From here, take the set of yellow springs. If you take the springs, angle your ascent as to not get hit by the row of horizontal springs, then take the spinning chains to your left. The path you take can depend on the angle you're launched at.

You can also go through the mud in this area instead of taking the springs. It is a linear path and will take you straight to the end, so refer to the #Through the mud section for details.

Aiming upwards

If you are thrown high enough, you'll be able to reach a diagonal red spring sitting at the far corner of the tall ledge in front of you. Taking this spring will direct you to the path's first Star Post sitting in the middle of a shrine-esque structure. From here, you'll be able to reach the two stone towers through a ledge with a Golden Whirlwind Shield you can use to jump over the fence. From here, follow the corridor to the end, then jump to the tower on the far left. Dodge the swinging maces in this area, then fall down the hole with the diagonal yellow springs to reach the castle outskirts' upper path.

Aiming forwards

Take either sets of diagonal yellow springs to be launched above a stone wall and into another set of springs, which will launch you to ground below. From here, you can either pass through the fenced corridor or follow through the mud.

If you choose to go through the corridor, avoid the swinging maces, then hit the Star Post at the end. You'll see a pair of ledges extending from the two stone towers to your right. Carefully platform through this area, then enter the hallway with two Egg Guards to reach the other side. From here, jump to the ledge on your right, then take one of the four red springs inside the building. Once you've reached the top, you'll rejoin with the left branch and the upper path in the forward branch. Follow the corridor to the end, then jump to the tower on the far left. Dodge the swinging maces in this area, then fall down the hole with the diagonal yellow springs to reach the castle outskirts' upper path.

If you choose to go through the mud, head to an opening behind the two swinging maces and jump up the grassy ledge. Keep moving forward until you find a Star Post, then head to the ledge surrounded by trees. Jump up the ledge with rotating maces, then platform your way through the small cave that follows, avoiding the Robo-Hood's arrows and the brambles on the floor. You'll exit the cave on the lower path of the castle outskirts.

Through the mud

Go through the muddy lake until you reach safer ground. From here, you can either pass through the stone gate in front of you or turn to the left in an area without a fence to reach a small ledge, where you can follow a trail of red springs to rejoin with the spring path. Choosing to pass through the stone gate, follow the path until you reach a set of spinning chains. Propel yourself upwards to reach an upper cliff, where you'll find the path's first Star Post in the middle of a stone structure. Keep heading forward, while avoiding the sets of spinning maces and Robo-Hoods, until you reach a wooden gauntlet filled with red springs maces that swing in a pendulum motion. Tread carefully through this structure until you reach another set of chains at the very end, which you can take to reach the cliff above you. Once you reach the top, avoid the rotating maces and take the yellow springs to go higher up, then run through the U-shaped slope while dodging the Robo-Hoods' shots and the set of rotating maces. A group of diagonal red springs will be waiting at the end; take these to enter a cave with a group of trees growing underneath. Jump to the area below you, then hit the horizontal red springs sitting on a row of stones. They will take you to a Star Post.

Run down the slope, then hit the vertical red springs at the end. They will take you to a fenced cliff with a single opening. From here, you can either fall down to rejoin with the castle outskirts' lower path, or jump to another fenced ledge in front of you to progress through the path. Continuing through the main route, jump to the aforementioned ledge, then take the red springs sitting atop a stone block. They will send you to a ledge filled with brambles - fall into another block of red springs, then move to a secluded tower at the very top. A diagonal red spring is sitting at the corner - let the spring launch you to a block of red springs sitting atop a pillar, then make your way to another tower far in front of you. Fall down through this tower, then leave the area. You'll see four stone structures with tall pillars extending from their center. The lower portion of these structures are protected by groups of Egg Guards, while the pillars have retracting spikes sitting on the top. You can either make your way through the Egg Guards, or platform through the pillars. Both segments meet up at a fenced stone structure. If you took the lower path, dodge the Lance-a-Bot's charges and go up a staircase with retractable spikes, then take the row of yellow springs to the right. If you platformed through the pillars, jump to an enclosed ledge with a diagonal yellow spring leading into another one. Either way, you'll be launched to a cliff with five Egg Guards. Be careful not to fall, then enter the tower to the right through a big opening. The set of springs at the other end will launch you into the last fortress.

Castle outskirts

Upper path

After falling down from the tower, take the diagonal yellow springs at the end of the ledge, then use the set of chains to propel yourself forward. If you're launched far enough, you'll land on a wooden bridge containing a Star Post. Jump to the plains in front of you then head to the left. Go up the wooden bridge with rotating maces, then head to the end of the cliff. Go up another bridge identical to the last, then take the diagonal red spring next to the tree. It will launch you into a broken bridge connecting into a tower. Follow the bridge to the right of this area, then jump up the cliff to enter a small cave. Platform through the stone steps with rotating maces until you see the exit. The set of chains in front of you will launch you into the last fortress.

Lower path

After leaving the cave, you can either continue forward or jump through the fence to your right to hit a pillar filled with springs.

Continuing forward, platform through the ledges and avoid the groups of Egg Guards until you reach a bridge of retractable spikes. At its end, you will hit a Star Post. Go through the cave in front of you then follow the curve to the left. From here, dodge the rotating maces, then head to an upper ledge through a yellow spring. Take another spring into a higher ledge and head to an area filled with mud. From here, head to the cave marked with a stone arch and jump over the brambles. The set of chains at the end of this area will launch you into the last fortress.

Jumping through the fence, hit the first pillar with springs. Head to a broken tower at the end of this area by manouvering through the other pillars with springs, then take the diagonal springs to reach a higher tower. From there, look to the right and dodge the maces swinging in a pendulum-like motion. The Star Post at the end of this section will take you to the start of the upper path.

Shields

  • In the path through the mud, after the wooden gauntlet with red springs and swinging maces, hop onto the chain launcher, then position the camera backwards and jump off. From there, you will be able to reach the top of the structure with the springs and maces; behind an Eggman statue to the right is an Attraction Shield.
  • In the fortress area, right after the narrow bridge with swinging maces before the jump down to the next Star Post is an Attraction Shield to the right.
  • Near the start of the level, shortly after the slope you ascend makes a U turn, turn right and drop down to find a Force Shield with a yellow spring next to it to get back up.
  • In the outdoor area before the final fortress, a bit behind the Star Post is a mace rotating around a small wooden pillar that has a Force Shield on top.
  • In the path through the mud, after the diagonal red springs that launch you into a cave, jump to the ledge in front of you, then turn left and jump onto a ledge with three Egg Guards on top. On that ledge, right above the horizontal red springs, is a Force Shield.

Reference to Black Eggman

The flag seen right before the collapsing bridge segment.

A recurring flag in Castle Eggman Zone foreshadows the latter half of the game. The flag has a black silhouette of Dr. Eggman's insignia; however, the shape is achieved by another silhouette of Black Eggman overlayed on top of it. The Eggman insignia is also surrounded and connected to black circles, resembling Egg Rock as seen in the ending cutscene.
