2.1:List of music
This is a list of music included in SRB2 v2.1. There are 102 music tracks in total. Most tracks are present in both Ogg and MIDI format, although some are only included in one format.
Format
Internally, SRB2 identifies each music track with a unique name consisting of up to six characters. This name is used when specifying a music track, for example with the Music
attribute in level headers and cutscenes, or with the tunes
console command. Most of SRB2's music tracks follow a naming scheme of MAPxxM
, where xx is the extended map number of the map that the track is primarily intended for. For example, the music for Greenflower Zone Act 1 is named MAP01M
. Other music that is used for special purposes does not follow this scheme, such as TITLES
for the title screen music. Custom music tracks do no have to follow this scheme either. See Sound and music tutorial > Music for an explanation of how to add custom music to SRB2.
Music tracks are stored as lumps in music.dta
. The lump name for a track consists of its name preceded by an O_
prefix for Ogg and other digital formats, and a D_
for the MIDI version. For example, the lump names for MAP01M
are O_MAP01M
and D_MAP01M
.
Slot numbers
In previous versions of SRB2, music tracks were identified via a slot number instead of a name. For tracks following the map number naming scheme, the slot number was simply the map number, e.g. 1 for MAP01M
. Special slots were reserved for the tracks that do not follow this naming scheme, e.g. 1036 for TITLES
. These slot numbers are still recognized by SRB2 for the purpose of backwards compatibility, but they are deprecated and should no longer be used.
SOC and Lua provide special constants that can be used as synonyms for slot numbers: In Lua, the constants have the form of the mus_
prefix followed by the track name in all-lowercase. For example, the constant for slot 1 is mus_map01m
. These constants can also be used in SOCs, although case is irrelevant here. Additionally, SOC also recognizes the lump names for the tracks as constants, with both O_
and D_
prefixes. Which prefix is used has no relevance to whether the Ogg or MIDI version is used; both are equivalent.
List of music tracks
The below is a list of all music tracks in SRB2. The category a tune is in does not necessarily correspond to its actual use, but roughly to its numbering; for example, MAP96M
is listed under "Multiplayer stages" because its number roughly corresponds to that section, even though it's not used for any multiplayer stage in SRB2.
